Wiki and Lani drawing their choice of rock sculpture at Te Marae O Hine
We had a wonderful EOTC to Te Marae O Hine and Te Manawa today. Thank you to all the parents who gave up their time to make this trip possible.
It was a bit of a walk, so expect some tired children tonight! The students were well behaved and engaged in their learning; rotating round the different points of interest. The feedback, once we had returned to school, was positive: the students had made some great connections to the learning they had been doing prior to the trip and had found out new things that had excited them.
Here are a few photos of the day. Expect some blog entries from your child shortly.

Welcome to Room 1

Kia ora
My name is Tracye Katon and I am teaching this year in Room 1. I am looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow for the start of the school year.
This is my first year at West End, so it may take a little time to get to know where everything is (I will need some help from you at times).
I have come to West End from teaching year 7/8 for 4 years at Ross Intermediate. Prior to that I taught years 3-6 at Central Normal School (year 5/6 for 5 years). I started my teaching career at Monrad Intermediate, where I taught year 7/ 8 for 8 years.

I hope that everyone has had a lovely break and that you are enjoying the hot weather! Remember to bring your sun-hat and a water bottle. Swimming will start next week, so now is a good time to sort out togs, if you have grown over the summer. I am looking forward to hearing all about your holidays tomorrow morning.
Ngā mihi
